Wooli is the gateway to both the Northern Solitary Islands as well as arguably NSW's best dive site - Pimpernel Rock.

North Solitary Islands is just a short 20 minute ride away and will provide you with some absolutely world class diving. The Islands are not only home to the temperate species, it is also the southern most limit of permanent colonies of tropical species, so you are certain to be amazed by the diversity of sealife.

The dive sites around North Solitary vary from just a couple of metres down to 42 metres. At the northeastern end is a small sheltered inlet called Bay of Anemones. The boulder strewn site is carpeted with anemones and numerous anemonefish, cowries, rays, turtles and hard and soft corals.

The Step is a rocky drop off; the wall drops from 15m to 45m and numerous sharks, giant manta ray, giant cod, eagle and bull rays patrol this section.

The Canyons is another popular spot. best described as a multi-coloured aquarium with a few southern species thrown in. Also famous for Painted Cray’s and large diveable depressions in the ocean floor.

The Bubble Cave near a spot called Southern Anchorage. The cave is very dark, and a torch is needed to appreciate it, and there are air bubbles trapped at the top of the cave. Fish life includes Lion Fish, large schools of White Bait and Spanish Dancers at times cling to the walls of the cave.

Fish Soup is one of the most requested dive locations, located at a group of wave washed rocks called North West Rock. It is renowned for a variety of larger fish species such as Black Cod, Mangrove Jack’s, Jewfish, Spangled Emperor, Snapper, Red Morwong, Tarwhine just to name a few.

Several miles further west lies North West Solitary Island which also boasts a variety of sites and the opportunity to dive with Manta Rays.

Extra Dives

We can organise an additional day of diving and accomodation at South West Rocks either before or after the scheduled weekend. Call the store for more details.

Our accommodation for the weekend is situated above the dive store. There is a large common area with tables and chairs, lounges, and TV. There is also a kitchen with plenty of mugs, plates and cutlery as well as large fridge in which you are welcome to place your own items. Complimentary tea, coffee and milk are provided as well as a continental breakfast each morning.

The beds are bunks style accommodation.  You will need to bring along your own bedding such as sheets, pillow & pillow slips. You will also need to bring along your own towel(s) and toiletries.

For the dives there is hire gear available if you don't have your own. We recommend that you also bring along a spray jacket and head protection of some description as the boat trip to and from North Solitary Island takes approximately 20 minutes and to Pimpernel Rock approximately 40 minutes.

There is a small supermarket in Wooli as well as a couple of takeaway food stores. The local pub has a bistro and pizzeria whilst the bowling club has a Chinese restaurant.

Sorry, we don't have any dates available at the moment for this trip. Contact us and we'll try to accommodate you.
