2024 Overseas Trips

Beqa Lagoon - Tigers and Bulls Galore

Last year a group of our divers came back raving about their incredible experiences at Beqa Lagoon Resort so we're heading back there again in June 2024.

Fiji_24_flier

Known as the Adventure Capital of Fiji, Beqa Island (pronounced Ben ga) is located at Pacific Harbour, a 2.5 hour scenic drive from Nadi International Airport followed by a 40 min boat transfer out to the resort. For divers, Beqa Lagoon has become known as the launching point for some of the South Pacific’s best reef and shark diving.

Beqa Lagoon Resort is located on beautiful Beqa Island and is surrounded by 360 square kilometres of warm tropical water populated with pristine coral reefs. The intimate resort features 25 deluxe, private air-conditioned bures. Each bure is generously sized and beautifully appointed with traditional Fijian decor. The resort is surrounded by more than 100 dive sites, including two shipwrecks and arguably the best Shark Dive in the world. All are within a twenty minute boat ride from the resort.

The Cathedral Shark Dive is truly a bucket list experience. Dozens of heavily proportioned Bull Sharks along with scores of Lemon, Nurse, Grey Reef, White Tip Reef and Black Tip Reef Sharks circle back and forth, all keeping a wary eye upon the gigantic Tiger Sharks that dominate the site. Seemingly oblivious to the presence of all of the sharks, thousands of fish including rainbow runners, napoleon wrasse, remoras, trigger fish and red snapper also swarm the site. This is a dive that should not be missed !

Each afternoon, if you choose not to take a shore dive, you can simply laze by the pool or participate in the myriad activities that are staged each day. These include indigenous arts and crafts workshops, hikes, visits to one of the local villages, boat excursions, kayaking and demonstrations of traditional cultural pastimes such as fire walking, dancing and a kava ceremony.

The islands of Negros, Bohol and Cebu belong to the coral triangle home to more than 12.000 species of fish. Be prepared for great service, good visibility, colourful corals, schools of fish, large predators, and tiny critters.

The safari vessels Royo and Goya travel between the ports of Sipalay (Negros) and Moalboal (Cebu), staying overnight at land based resorts, during our 6 day commute you will see the best dive spots the region has to offer, including Dauin, Apo Island, Siquijor Island, Balicasag Island, Panglao Island, Sumilon Island, Sunken Island and Pescador Island.
